I saw this offer on the blog for selling gold jewelry, and I wondered if anybody has had experience with a place like this. I see they participate in the BBB which is sort of helpful, but I'd love to hear from somebody with a personal experience.

To be honest, I am sure that places like this will offer you something under the spot melt price for the precious metals that are contained within old jewelry, candlesticks, etc. And you will not get any money for the collectable value of those items, if they have one.

Still it does look convenient, and probably will be the same money a person would get at a pawn shop, jeweler, etc.

A bullion dealer may do better if you explain to them that you understand what you have.

I guess people should “shop” for the best place to sell, just like they would “shop” for the best place to buy! However, for people that have unused items made of precious metals, this looks like a simple way to sell them. As they state in their terms, you can always refuse the offer.
